COWRITTEN
Cowritten
Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of releasing a few limited edition fragrances in collaboration with other brands. While most of these exclusive creations are no longer available (so no inquiries, please!), we’ve compiled them here as a nod to our journey.
If you’re a brand interested in partnering with Imaginary Authors, we’d love to hear from you.

MOSAIC
NOTES:
Petitgrain, Bergamot, Oakmoss, Cedarwood, Limestone, Artesian Well
SYNOPSIS:
Our first collaboration was with a Portland boutique called Spruce Apothecary. The brief was to capture the magic of the thermal baths in Baden Baden, Germany. This clean, limestone aquatic was a cult favorite in our early years and made limited run appearances in subsequent years.
AN AIR OF DISPAIR
NOTES:
Cedar, Saffron, Musk, Sadness
SYNOPSIS:
This extremely rare and hard-to-find fragrance was a limited edition collaboration with the Portland brand, All Bad Days. It marked our first (and last) foray into 30ml bottles, as well as our first and only gold foil stamped label. The simple cedar acted as a sort of under-developed short story that would blossom into the full-blown epic, Slow Explosions.
A CITY ON FIRE
NOTES:
Cade oil, Spikenard, Cardamom, Clearwood, Dark Berries, Labdanum, Burnt Match
SYNOPSIS:
Concepted in partnership with local clothing brand Machus, A City On Fire became so popular it has since joined our regular line up and is still available for purchase here.
CAPE HEARTACHE ROOM SPRAY
NOTES:
Douglas Fir, Strawberry, Mountain Fog
SYNOPSIS:
Created exclusively for The Hoxton Hotel in Portland, Oregon, our sole room spray was available for purchase only in the Hoxton’s gift shop.
A WHIFF OF WAFFLE CONE
NOTES:
Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Saigon Cinnamon, Heavy Cream, Sandalwood, Orgeat, Scoop Shop
SYNOPSIS:
Legend has it, Tyler Malek, co-founder of popular ice cream chain Salt & Straw, was in Los Angeles trying a variety of perfumes at Scent Bar when he fell in love with the Imaginary Authors line, having no idea we were based in his hometown of Portand, Oregon. The obsession fueled a dream he had to create a culinary perfume to add fragrance to ice cream, which has none. While we loved the idea, we had no idea how to pull it off, so to buy time we offered to create something we knew we could make truly magic: capturing the smell of fresh-baked waffle cones one experiences when they step into a scoop shop. You can still order this best seller here.
CULINARY PERFUMES
NOTES:
A Plume of Blooms: Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Wild Country Garden
A Cloud of Cocoa: Ecuadorian Chocolate, Malted Milkshake, Japanese Whiskey,
A Swoon of Citrus: Key Lime Pie, Lychee, Italian Lemon Grove
SYNOPSIS:
Created in tandem with the food scientists at Salt & Straw, these first of their kind culinary perfumes are 100% edible and 100% wearable. WHAT?!? That’s right, spray it on ice cream, food, cocktails, and skin. These took years to develop and are testament to the Willy Wonka-like thinking of both Salt & Straw and Imaginary Authors. You can find these for purchase here.
